Nessuno verrà a servirmi. Quando il dispositivo inizia a lampeggiare, so che è arrivato il mio turno. Mi alzo per prendere la pizza e la mangio lì, in piedi, proprio accanto al forno, invece di portarla al tavolo. Un messaggio così forte e politico compare tra una montanara e i dettagli di una degustazione. Non serve a offrire l’ennesima “esperienza”, ma a ricordarci che oggi trovare personale è diventata un’impresa ben più complessa che trovare clienti. Sarà perché il turismo, la ristorazione e i pubblici esercizi si sono trasformati in una macchina alimentata da manodopera a basso costo e da un turnover forsennato. 🇮🇹 Se scegli di venire a CapCode può essere una buona idea alloggiare a Hyannis, gli alloggi sono più economici di Provincetown (è distante un'ora di auto da qui), ci sono ristorantini deliziosi sull'oceano e sei vicino al porto dove può prendere un collegamento per raggiungere le isole o prendere il largo per avvistare le balene. È la città principale, e mi è piaciuta tantissimo, non a nulla a che vedere con New Port. 🇬🇧 If you choose to come to Cap Code it may be a good idea to stay in #hyannis, the accommodation is cheaper than Provincetown (it's an hour's drive away), there are lovely little restaurants on the ocean and you're close to the harbour where you can catch a ferry to the islands or take off to spot whales. It is the main town, and I loved it, nothing like New Port. #hyannisport #hyannismassachusetts

🇮🇹 New Port deve essere stato un posto incredibile ed esclusivo in passato. The Breakers, la residenza estiva dei Vanderbilt, ne è sicuramente una testimonianza, ma oggi è una meta troppo turistica. Lo testimoniano alcuni cartelli che chiedono di non costruire più sul waterfront. Troppo turismo può distruggere un luogo. “Ne abbiamo abbastanza di questi posti, come quelli per bere alcool o per accogliere matrimoni” soprattutto perché questo complica la vita alle persone che ci vivono. Anche i negozi non offrono prodotti locali e ci sono dolciumi ovunque (come nel resto dell’America). Non sono rimasta tanto tempo qui, ma ecco i tre motivi per cui tornerei senz’altro 📍 @newport_mansions per la sua storia, il suo valore e l’incredibile design/architettura 📍 @scalesandshellsnpt ostriche fritte + lobster arrosto 📍 @cliffwalkers_newport per una lunga passeggiata 🇬🇧 New Port must have been an incredible and exclusive place in the past. The Breakers, the summer residence of the Vanderbilts, testifies to that. Today it is a tourist destination. I have seen some protest messages calling for no more building on the waterfront. Excessive tourism can destroy a place. "We've had enough of these places, like the ones for drinking alcohol or hosting weddings" especially because it complicates life for the people who live there. Even the stores don't offer local products and there are candy everywhere (like in the rest of America). Chi ha visitato New York fa fatica a immaginare com’è diversa la vita ad appena qualche ora dalla città, eppure con la pandemia in molti si sono trasferiti qui. L'auto è necessaria e oggi più di ieri è più facile trovare un luogo dove alloggiare per i turisti. In quella che è conosciuta come la Gold Coast, in una parte del Connecticut, la qualità della vita è incredibile, è tutto è così tranquillo, verde e silenzioso, anche grazie all'azione dei Land Trust. Le farm hanno prodotti organici, le case restano aperte, la community e i volunteers hanno un ruolo importantissimo. Puoi trovare spazi pazzeschi dedicarti all'arte contemporanea, al design e alla musica, se lo lo desideri. Sarà che dove c'è benessere tutto è più facile? 🇬🇧 People go on vacation to Connecticut? Good question. Those who have visited New York find it hard to imagine how different life is just a few hours from the city, yet with the pandemic many have moved here. The car is necessary and today more than yesterday it is easier to find a place to stay for tourists. In what is known as the Gold Coast, in a part of Connecticut, the quality of life is amazing, everything is so peaceful, green and quiet, thanks to the action of the Land Trusts. The farms have organic products, the houses remain open, the community and volunteers have a very important role. You can find amazing spaces dedicated to contemporary art, design and music, if you wish.
